Stephen Owen
Stephen Owen is a British author. He spent 15 years as a primary care nurse, and he writes now for people trying to change something while the rest of life carries on around them.
He is dyslexic, and that has shaped how he writes and how he teaches. His interest in resilience is personal as well as professional. After burning out, he worked his way back using the same principles he now sets out for readers, and as a husband and the father of two daughters he knows what it takes to change your life while still living it.
The book
Out of that came GROWTH by DESIGN, published under his own imprint, SO What Works? Two systems run through it. GROWTH is how you see a change: six qualities to be honest about before you start. DESIGN is what you do about it: six steps that run from naming the change to the weekly review that keeps it alive. Eleven numbered chapters take you through them, and one more, The Safety Route, sits outside the method for the days when none of it applies. The subtitle says who the book is for: a method for building habits when you have no time, no energy and no spare week.
The book is out on 1 December 2026, with a full workbook and a shorter Lite workbook alongside it. Join the list and you’ll hear on the day. The free scorecard and One-Page Change Plan arrive in the meantime.
